Inspiring books

There are many books I am so grateful to have come across in times of need.

Most of these I haven't just read once, but many times over. I think of them as companions.. ones I could return to and interact with again and again. Books that were like a light in the darkness, helping me find my way out.

I truly hope you find this page helpful, and that some of these books speak to you too.

Tao Te Ching — I can't even put a number on how many times I've revisited this book. I keep it on my phone, so that whenever I need guidance, or simply an escape, I open it to a random chapter. More often than not, that chapter turns out to be exactly the answer I needed — for whatever situation or emotion I happen to be facing;

A New Earth — Eckhart Tolle — Full of wisdom, and a book that has given me both answers and comfort in times of need;

Conversations on Love — Natasha Lunn — I was shocked at how many bookmarks and highlights I made in this one. It's an incredible find. A note: this isn't only about romantic love — it's about love in all its forms, toward a sibling, a friend, a profession, a child. I consider it a must-read;

Inner Engineering — Sadhguru — Full of lovely insight and wisdom, written in the witty, fun way only Sadhguru can manage. A beautiful book I've read a few times, and am actually rereading right now once again;

Letting Go — David R. Hawkins — This book speaks to so many of the emotional instabilities and struggles we carry without quite knowing how to release them — how to feel lighter, and let go of the burdens we know are no longer serving us. Deep, yet lightly written. Wonderful food for thought.

The Art of Learning — Josh Waitzkin — Fantastic and beautifully written. It offers a whole new perspective on observation, and on how to learn the thing (or things) you're truly passionate about;

The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali — Sri Swami Satchidananda — I can't even begin to summarize the depth of this book. It speaks to all of it — creation, existence, being. Every time I open it, I find new meaning, depending on what I'm going through at the time. Not an easy read, but absolutely captivating;

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success — Deepak Chopra — Another one I've read well over ten times. I also have it as an audiobook, and play it whenever I want a little company. I consider this book to be the fundamentals of how to live happily;

The Power of Now — Eckhart Tolle — Similar in spirit to A New Earth — this was the first of his books I read. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a happier life and inner peace;

Musashi — Eiji Yoshikawa — The beginning of the Way. An incredible book, full of wisdom. It's an escape novel on the surface — a story about the swordsman Musashi — but underneath, it's truly a book about the Way, and about Tao;

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People — Stephen Covey — I read this so long ago, and it was the first book of this genre that opened the door to all the others. This is the book that started it all :)

They say you don't find the book — the book finds you. Maybe that's true, maybe not. Either way, I'm glad we found each other. Please share with me if you've found any of these helpful, or if you'd like to recommend some more.

Thank you — wishing you a peaceful read. 😊
